EnSight Certification and Virtual Internship

College graduates in 2009's economy are going to be competing against a multitude of other students with similar credentials, for very few jobs. Not only will you be competing against other students, but against other people with years of experience who have been spit out into the job market because of the economy. We are offering to let you take part in our Certificate Program and/or a Virtual Internship so you can show off your new EnSight skills to your future employer and prove that you are motivated to broaden your skill set to meet the employer's needs.

How do I get started?

EnSight 101 Certification

Step 1: Watch the EnSight online tutorials and write a brief 3-4 sentence summary on each tutorial, then send in your summary of each tutorial to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We estimate this step will take you ~7 hours.

Step 2: Download EnSight and request a free key by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You must have a valid student email address in order to get an EnSight key. We estimate this step will take you ~15 minutes.

Step 3: Follow the 4 tutorials in the "EnSight 9 Getting Started Manual" and send in a 3-4 sentence summary of what you learned in each tutorial. These step-by-step tutorials will help you become familiar with the basic features of EnSight.   We estimate this step will take you ~3 hours.

After successful completion of these three steps,  CEI will officially record your name as EnSight 101 Certified.  Prospective customers can verify this status with CEI by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  You will also receive an email verifying your status as EnSight 101 Certified.

EnSight 201 Certification
Attend a live EnSight Introductory training class to obtain your EnSight 201 Certification.

EnSight 301 Certification
Attend a live EnSight Advanced training class to obtain an EnSight 301 Certification. 

Classes are 2 days in length and are held at the CEI Headquarters in Apex, NC, as well as in other locations around the country.  International customers are welcome to attend the USA classes, or contact the nearest distributor for their training schedule.

If you have previously attended an EnSight 8 or EnSight 9 training class in 2007 or 2008, CEI has already recorded your attendance and can verify your status of EnSight 201 or 301 Certified with prospective employers and customers.

EnSight 401 Virtual Internship
What is a virtual internship you might ask? It's a way to avoid the standard internship where students are asked to perform some of the most menial chores in their field. We want you to do some real engineering work. If you create your own internship you will gain invaluable real-world experience and you get to pick the topic! Once you have completed EnSight 101, 201 and 301 Certifications, you can then begin working on your Virtual Internship. 

The Virtual Internship Project is up to the student. You must submit a plan to CEI in advance of beginning your internship. A good plan will include the kind of data you plan to read into EnSight and what information you hope to extract from the data.  What is the target audience for the information?  How will the information be shared with the audience? What are some of the obstacles that you anticipate for completing the project on time?  When do you expect to start and when do you expect to complete the project?

CEI will post your project on our website, which creates a publicly visible portfolio of your work that you can show to any prospective employer.
