F-1, Nascar, and Olympic Racing Visualization

EnSight animation of aerodynamic simulation of a Ferrari 550 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) car. The animation was created by AdvantageCFD (now TotalSim), using EnSight. Streamlines around the car help to illustrate the cooling airflow as well as the downforce generating devices of the vehicle. EnSight's keyframe animation features is used in conjunction with streamlines and frame mode animation of the wheel movement help to convey the story of the simulation to the audience.

cycling2.png Tenths of a second can mean the difference between a gold medal and fourth place in Olympic track cycling.

Before the 2004 Olympics in Athens, the British Cycling Team found a unique way to help save those precious fractions of a second: The team commissioned computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies from the Sports Engineering Research Group (SERG) at the University of Sheffield to improve the overall aerodynamics of their equipment.
