EVO Animation File Library

Now you can read or write .evo movies directly from your own applications with the .evo library.  This library is an open source Application Programming Interface (API) that allows you to write .evo files from your own software.

The .evo format is CEI's open video output file format.  The .evo movie's ease of use, compact and portable file format, and stereo capabilities make it ideal for engineering and scientific animations.  The .evo format offers both lossy and loss-less compression, allowing a choice between image fidelity and file size. The .evo format also offers support for stereoscopic animations, which may be played in CEI's EnVideo.

QuickTime and DirectShow plugins enable many powerful video editing applications to read and write .evo files, including Final Cut Pro and Adobe AfterEffects.  EnVideo is simple-to-use software that solves current problems with viewing videos of high-end visualizations over the Internet or intranet.

EVO QuickTime Component and DirectShow Plugin for Windows

EVO for QuickTime allows you to import and export .evo files with any application supporting the QuickTime framework. On Windows, this includes QuickTime Pro, Adobe AfterEffects and others.

These components support stereo movies. Stereo movies are imported with the left and right frames side by side, creating one large image. When exported as stereo, the movie is split in the same way and written to disk as left and right frames. This allows you to use popular editing tools to add effects and transitions to your stereo movies.

Additionally, you can read in MTM or Multi Tiled Movies. This allows you to easily preview a movie before loading it on your display wall or to easily re-assemble an existing MTM and convert to another format.

Also provided is a DirectShow Plugin which allows Windows Media Player based applications to understand the EVO file format.  Applications that work with DirectShow include Windows Media Player itself and the latest version of PowerPoint.

EVO QuickTime Component for Mac

EVO for QuickTime allows you to import and export .evo files with any application supporting the QuickTime framework. Practically all video software applications on the Macintosh are supported, including Final Cut Pro/Express, iMovie, QuickTime Player/Player Pro, Finder, Keynote, and more. Many popular software packages for Windows also support QuickTime, including Adobe After Effects and QuickTime Player/Player Pro.
