EnSight 9.1.2 includes feature improvements, usability improvements, and performance improvements. Over 145 customer issues were corrected. And below are are some of the more interesting improvements we'd like to highlight.
|
Several Right Click Enhancements Right-click menus put the features you need at the closest possible place, for maximum interactivity and ease of use. Below is a sample list only. - Hide a query marker |
Uses Significantly Less Memory EnSight 9.1.2a reduced memory usage in the client by 30%. EnSight now uses much less memory for rigid-body models in flipbook animation. And EnLiten files use less memory for smaller files, easier to share with others. |
|
EnSight 9.1 introduced Volume Rendering. In this version we make volume rendering distributed. So models which cannot be volume rendered using a single graphics card, can be handled by graphics clusters. |
Faster Dytran Reader The reader for MSC Dytran was made faster for some models. In one case the model has read in 8x faster. In some cases the reading is no faster. Customer testing is needed to determine their benefit. |
|
Through some code optimization we were able to speed the reading of ABAQUS models by several factors. More customer testing is needed. However one customer reported a 5x speed up. Now reads ABAQUS 6.10 files. |
Platforms - No Change In the last few years the powerful commodity CPU’s and GPU’s have driven most customers to consolidate platforms to include: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux on the desktop. CEI supports these platforms as well as AIX for EnSight servers.

|
We have added a 2nd MSC Marc reader. We hope that customers will find the new Marc reader to be more complete and faster. However we need customer feedback before discontinuing the old reader. |
Compatibility and Licenses EnSight 9.1.2 uses the same license key as EnSight 8.2, 9.0, and 9.1, therefore you do not need a new license key, your existing slim8.key file will work. You do not need to remove EnSight 8 to try EnSight 9. EnLiten 8 .els files will still play in EnLiten 9. EnSight 8 command language files will continue to play in EnSight 9. We recommend Python command files for added programming flexibility. |

CFD Data Readers
• The Fluent reader now recognizes units.
• The Fluent reader now correctly reads multiple DAT files.
• Improved Overflow Reader
• Improved Flow3D Reader including Flow3D particle data, cylindrical coordinates, and correct handling of ghost cells
• Improved handling of Converge data
• Improved CFF/Wind reader for 64-bit Windows
|
Improved ANSYS Results Reader
A new Ansys Results reader has been added.
The new reader is more compatible with ANSYS result files than previous readers.
Command files using the older reader names will continue to use the old readers for compatibilty. However, through the GUI, the default behavior will be to use the new reader.

|
EnLiten and Reveal, Free 3D Viewers EnLiten now supports linked viewports! EnLiten files will be smaller when saving animated traces. Reveal pack-n-go has been fixed and Chinese language support has been added. And some minor bugs have been squashed. |
EnSight CFD Separation EnSight CFD is now separately installed from EnSight. So if you install EnSight 9.1.2 and want to run EnSight CFD, you will need to install EnSight CFD separately. Switching between EnSight CFD and EnSight is no longer permitted. The investment to keep switching capability comes at the cost of providing new functionality. EnSight CFD 3.0 now added several features which make switching much less important. |
