"EnSight and Kraken Applications for Reservoir & Basin Simulation in the Oil & Gas Industry"
Clovis Maliska Jr., President, ESSS
Abstract
Oil & Gas is currently one of the industries
that contain the largest variety of applications. From the process of
searching and mapping new basins and reservoirs, to oil exploration,
transport, storing and processing for obtaining each end-customer
product, numerical simulation is intensively used by the major oil
companies to improve each of these applications.
The presentation is divided into two parts (upstream and downstream
applications) and will show how visualization with EnSight and Kraken
is being used in the Oil & Gas industry.
Biography
Clovis Maliska Jr. graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal
University of Santa Catarina in 1997, and obtained his masters in 2000
in Thermal Sciences from the same university. He has worked with
software development, focused in 3D visualization, since 1988. In
1995 Clovis won the national software contest in Brazil with the
library COI-lib, devoted to such applications. In the same year he
founded the company ESSS (Engineering Simulation and Scientific
Software) together with three other university colleagues and one
professor to develop and market COI-lib technology commercially.
Clovis has been the president of ESSS since then, and is directly
responsible for the software development division of the company. He is
currently involved with several software development projects with
companies from Brazil, Europe and North America, most of them for Oil
& Gas exploration companies.
