The Leading Tool for Fluid-Structure Interaction |
|
|
|
|
EnSight has been capable of post-processing coupled fluid-structure
interaction data for many years. This is becoming more important as FEA
and CFD companies go after the challenging applications of
fluid-structure interaction. Fluid-structure interaction applications
include tire hydroplaning, defense (including making personnel air
carriers safer), airbag inflation for automotive occupant safety,
sloshing and filling of fuel tanks, and thermal-stress in an exhaust
manifold of a car.
EnSight also supports loosely coupled FSI solutions such as using MPCCI
server module. For example, Fluent and Abaqus run a coupled simulation
by using the MPCCI server module and adding MPCCI plug-in to their own
respective programs. Other codes that have added or are in the process
of adding support for MPCCI are Ansys, Ansys/CFX, MSC.Marc,
MSC.Nastran, Permas, StarCD and RadTherm (see also http://www.scai.fraunhofer.de/mpcci). Contact vendors for information about MPCCI support.
There is no additional charge for CEI interfaces to FEA or CFD codes.
There are also no unique problems due to using coupled data from a CFD
and FEA solver at the same time. The EnSight license you have today is
ready to tackle the problem. CEI is working with the solver software
developers to ensure a close working relationship and compatibility
with the results files.
In some cases the coupled solutions are run sequentially in time rather
than simultaneously. To learn more about how to shift results in time
or how to load Telluride data into EnSight, check out our knowledge
base, http://www.ensight.com/knowledge-base.html.
