Viz Corner - June 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to the June edition of Viz Corner! This month’s issue includes a new solver page focused specifically on Star-CD, a video on the latest Roadrunner supercomputer installed at Los Alamos National Laboratory, CEI’s new blog, The Whole Enchilada, and a new tutorial on Creating Clips of Clips.

Welcome to our new blog! The Whole Enchilada Blog was created by our own, Jay Lyerly. The idea is to point out cool stuff and have reader comment. A lot of the posts will have to do with EnSight, EnVideo, Reveal and our other products, and all the slick things they can do so be sure to post your comments or recommend topics for discussion. Jay is also likely to post about python magic, web 2.0 goodness and other shiny gizmos.  As Jay says, “Yup, its going to be the Whole Enchilada.”

Creating Clips of Clips
This tutorial illustrates one of a few ways to generate clips of clips within EnSight. This function allows you to augment the clip operation by restricting your original clips and performing additional clips. This gives you the ability to create sector clips of the geometry that have additional constraints, other than an RTZ alone, or an XYZ alone, etc.  To see the tutorial visit our Tutorials page on our website  and click on Basic Tutorials.

Star-CD Solver Page
This new webpage has information on how to read Star-CD data into EnSight, a client story related to EnSight and Star-CD, color palettes, tutorials, and a direct link to CEI's knowledge base of information related to Star-CD. Check it out!

Roadrunner Record Broken

May 26, 2008 Roadrunner supercomputer was installed at Los Alamos National Laboratory and achieved supercomputing goal of performing more than a thousand trillion operations per second (also known as petaflops). Watch this video online and catch a glimpse of their use of EnSight.
